Recently I have visited some remote rural telecentres in Bangladesh . During my visit, I have talked to the chief of telecentre, staff, customers and the local people. Telecentres were developed in the cooperation and collaboration of the World Net. The services provided by the local telecentres are very effective to the local people. The telecentres have brought the whole world into the remote communities under the guide lines of the World Net.
Last May, I was awarded Scholarship by the IDRC to attend the First Global Telecentre Allince Forum held at Batta city in Hungary . Batta is the birthplace of the first concept of the European Telecentre Strategy. The participants are mainly University Professors and ICT experts drawn from the five continents. On 25 th May 2008 , we visited the Village – Csakbereny where the first European telecentre (Tele Hez) was established. Csakbereny is a remote village for 1300 people and 80 kms far from the city.
The concepts of establishing telecentre in Csakberry village have lots of similarities with the telecentres established in the remote villages of Bangladesh . The services, the Bangladeshi telecentres provide under the auspices of the World Net, are comparable to any other telecentre elsewhere in the globe.
I believe within a short span of time using the local talents and resources, World Net will create excellent examples in the world of telecentres that will be replicated to the rest of the countries of the Globe.
